Subject: Why Change Is Needed
Friends,
I’ll make this quick.
As the Lake Zone Director for the American Racing Pigeon Union (ARPU), like you, I was stunned to read the recent ad titled ‘Truth vs. Fiction’ in the ARPU’s E-Update. I can assure you; this ad is misleading and warrants a quick rebuttal.
ARPU Membership by decade:
· 1960 – 12,946 members
· 1970 - 11,558 members
· 1980 – 11,485 members
· 1990 - 10,596 members
· 2021 – 7,500 members
Clearly paid annual ARPU membership is on the decline. Just look around your own club on shipping night. Does it feel like the ARPU is growing?
The obvious reason for declining membership is lack of or understanding by organizational staff on how to recruit and retain members. If elected President, this is my number one priority to expand upon the sports promotional activities that I’ve successfully implemented as Lake Zone Director.
Election integrity is crucial.
As ARPU President, I will ensure all future elections are handled by an outside independent auditing firm and election results be made available upon request. There should never be a shred of doubt when it comes to election integrity.
Unfortunately, this has not always been the case. I’ve witnessed first-hand the struggle by the current administration to provide a coherent election policy that ensures election fairness and transparency. We can and must do better.
Bird Flu.
Avian influenza is no laughing matter and the ARPU needs to be a source of reliable information, so clubs, combines and individuals have the facts at their fingertips rather than having to hunt for information themselves. This is why I’m supporting Robbie Whaley, DVM, candidate for ARPU Vice President.
Dr. Whaley has the expertise and background to negotiate with the United States Department of Agriculture every fluid bureaucracy that the current ARPU administration does not have. As Vice President, he will lead the ARPU’s efforts to modernize our health and disease protocols and provide members the resources to educate themselves about issues such as the ‘bird flu.’
I can’t stress this enough. I cannot do this alone, please take a few moments to visit our webpage and learn about the qualified candidates that are committed to making the ARPU work for you. Please visit: https://www.thebiz6.com/
Thanks in advance. I’ll let you get back to enjoying your Monday.
